Quiz Time! Ready To Test Your AI Spidey-Senses?

Plus, Week Two of Our "Build Your AI Tool Stack" Series.

Hi friends,

Do you get exasperated when AI doesn't deliver what you asked for?

Many of us do, yet changing how we approach our interactions with AI can make all the difference.

Instead of treating it as “just another digital tool”, consider Gen. AI as a new team member - one with immense potential, but requiring guidance.

Think back to the last time you onboarded a new colleague.

There was probably a period of adjustment, during which you got to know each other better and aligned expectations.

This took time, with some missteps and misunderstandings, steps forward and steps back. But eventually, you both arrived on the same page.

Working with AI requires a similar, soft touch. Consider the following strategies if you’re not getting the outputs you want:

  • Provide More: Explain what you want, rephrase or reframe, add context and details, and provide examples.

  • Push Back: Tell it if you don’t like the tone, or the content is too superficial, or it’s missing the point.

  • Mix-Up Tools: For example, brainstorm with GPT and refine with Gemini - or any other tool combination that works for you.

  • Adjust Style. A visual tool like MidJourney needs different prompts than a writing and research tool like Claude. Learn their ‘languages’ and adapt.

Be Patient: Keep refining your conversations. You WILL get the results you want, with trial and error.

Plus …

Welcome to week two of our "Build Your AI Tool Stack" series, and take the next step to onboarding AI as your right-hand helper.

Happy Stacking!

Just a quick note: Next week's newsletter will wing its way into your inbox on Sunday instead of Tuesday. We have a great ‘open rate’ but I'm testing to see if people have more time, or interest, in reading it on a weekend. This may bomb of course 😄 but please bear with me; I'll keep you updated!

AI SMORGASBORD

Could AI replace humanity? According to some experts, AI could pose an ‘extinction-level’ threat to humanity. While embracing AI, we must never take our eyes off the risks that come with creating a new form of intelligence.

Music labels sue AI song generators: AI software steals songs to ‘spit out’ similar tunes, the lawsuit says, and it is asking for $150,000 a work in compensation.

Are companies like Amazon making over-inflated claims about their use of AI? It’s a practice dubbed “AI washing” where companies market a story of progress that may not quite align with reality.

TOOL COMPARISON TABLE

Apologies for the eye chart! Hopefully, the downloadable version works. I’m testing Google Drive, so if anyone has problems, drop me a note and I’ll send it over by email ([email protected])

Of course, this table can be customized in any way that works for you. This is guidance only.

FREE TOOL DIRECTORIES

Futurepedia.io: 5582 AI tools organized into 10 categories. Comprehensive directories, and easy-to-follow guides aimed at simplifying AI integration into professional practices.

There’s An AI For That: Dynamic AI tools database featuring thousands of AI tools.

Toolify: This might be my new favorite. I find their interface friendly and their tool categorizations more helpful than most.

Top AI Tools: I especially like this directory’s “Use Cases” section. It uses them not only to organize tools but also to explain AI’s impact on each function or sector.

Open Tools AI: A nice resource with a chat interface, so you can ask it to find specific tools. It also offers a handy news headlines section.

FREE RESOURCES

Keep an eye on our Digital Library of free, high-value e-books, reports, and infographics covering a broad spectrum of AI-related subjects. New uploads every week.

And don’t forget to check out our YouTube channel where you’ll find a collection of our published videos.

CURIOUS CAT

Meet Jackson Barn Cat a.k.a. JBC, office manager, resident AI-whisperer, and all-around curious cat. Each week he’ll nose bop a new challenge 😺

BUILD YOUR AI TOOL SHORTLIST

Check out the different directories listed, to find the one or two that suit you best.

There’s no need to plan the whole tool stack at once. I suggest you pick a single category, such as ‘video creation’ and then start digging.

Check out each platform in person too. You can get a good feel in a few minutes.

THE LAST WORD

QUIZ ANSWER: Easy-peasy, right? The Real JBC is pictured in photos #2 and #4. I mean how could you not recognize that cute little face?? AI Images by MidJourney.
