Will AI break Google's search stranglehold?
The AI Search Revolution isn't just about better answers - it's about reimagining our entire relationship with information.
After two decades of Google's link-based dominance, AI is shattering the search-and-scroll paradigm.
Think about it: when was the last time you were delighted with scrolling through pages of search results? (āGoogle, when I searched 'best python libraries' I meant coding, not exotic pet care).
This model, which made Google a tech giant, is beginning to feel as outdated as a dial-up modem as AI introduces an understanding of the intent behind, and the context within which searches are conducted.
The AI effect goes beyond simply improving the search experience to fundamentally changing it, evolving how we discover, learn, and apply information.
For the first time in 20 years, Google's iron grip on our digital doorway to knowledge looks shakeable.
AI MADE EASY
For many businesses, search is a vitally important marketing channel; itās a way to be discovered; to promote, attract, connect, and sell. Until recently Google has monopolised search with itās ādirectory-ledā approach. Now thatās all changing ā¦and the new keyword is āintent. ā
AI TOOLKIT:
SEARCHGPT vs. PERPLEXITY
For an in-depth review of Perplexity, including explanations about how it works, plus a topline assessment of the newly announced SearchGPT check out this article:
TL: DR āThe choice between Perplexity and SearchGPT will depend on your needs. If youāre looking for an immediate tool for precise, organized searches, Perplexity is an excellent choice today, not least thanks to its advanced features like Focus Mode and Collections. However, SearchGPT could become a must-have for users seeking a more fluid and conversational experience.ā
AI IN ACTION
Itās happening! In 2025 weāll be seeing - and covering - more cases of AI implemented strategically largely through assistants and agents, with tangible outcomes.
Klarna, a buy-now-pay-later company, partnered with OpenAI to develop an AI assistant (agent) that, within its first month, managed 2.3 million chat conversationsāequivalent to the workload of 700 full-time customer service agents.
This implementation led to a 25% reduction in repeat inquiries
It decreased resolution times by nine minutes while maintaining customer satisfaction levels.
It supported customers in over 35 languages, with tasks ranging from refund requests to financial advice.
While AI handles straightforward queries, human agents remain available for more complex interactions.
The initiative, costing approximately $2 to $3 million, is projected to boost Klarna's profits by $40 million.
